We have had a fantastic September. We have enjoyed a Macmillan and Breast Cancer support afternoon, raising lots of money for the charities. We would like to say a huge thank you to all the parents who baked and donated cakes to support our coffee sale. Our Employee of the Month for September is Auntie Lisa, as voted for by parents! This is for all her support in settling the children into Tulip room and providing such personal feedback on children’s days at nursery. Well done, Lisa!

- Breakfast finishes at 9:30am, please ensure if you would like breakfast you arrive to nursery before this time.

Observations and planning
We have updated our approach to observing your children and revised our planning system to align with this new cycle. Key workers will now plan activities specifically for their key children, focusing on particular areas of learning to ensure continuous development. You will notice the skills we are exploring through the observations shared with you. This new approach means you’ll receive personalised observations of your child’s nursery experience and a clearer overview of the milestones they’re achieving! Our planning will also include outdoor and home learning activities. We encourage you to continue your child’s learning at home by using our planning ideas. As we have in the past, we will continue to share our room planning with you, so you are aware of the topics and themes of learning we’re currently enjoying. This approach supports our team in understanding individual children’s development and how to successfully build on their knowledge while following children’s interests.
Dates for your diary
7th October – 11th October: Early Years Well-being Week:
We will be participating in a range of self-care and relaxing activities to support children’s well-being. We will also be holding a staff appreciation week. It may be nice for children to create a special piece of artwork for their key person or an auntie who is special to them.
Thursday 17th October and Friday 18th October: Photo Day!
Our photographer Michelle will be at nursery taking Christmas photos. If your child does not attend nursery on Thursdays and Fridays, please message the office to book in. If your child does attend, their photo will be taken during their nursery day.
Thursday 31st October: Halloween Party:
All children on Thursday are invited to dress up for Halloween! We will enjoy a party day, and there will be prizes for the best dressed. We will spend the week engaging in spooky activities. Please feel free to dress up any days within the week if your child does not attend nursery on Thursdays.
- We are in the process of planning dates for a parents evening.
- We will send out a separate letter for Christmas dates for your diary, allowing parents to plan for any events held at nursery.
Home learning ideas
Take an autumn adventure with your little one! Next time you’re out for a walk, turn it into an exciting scavenger hunt:
- Collect colourful leaves, shiny conkers, and interesting twigs
- Count your autumn treasures together
- Bring your finds to nursery to share with friends
- Snap some photos of your outdoor fun
This hands-on activity helps your child learn about the changing seasons while practicing counting. Plus, it’s a great way to enjoy quality family time outdoors! We’d love to see your autumn explorations – please send any photos to the nursery. Your child’s discoveries will spark curiosity and learning for everyone.
